Duties Description Reporting to the Diversity Equity Inclusion Accessibility Officer the Operations Director will organize and support the mission and initiatives of the AAPI Commission by ensuring effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects. This individual will act as a key liaison between stakeholders, manage day-to-day project operations, and contribute to advancing the commission and agency goals of fostering equity, inclusion, and representation for the AAPI community. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

· Synchronize required Commission activities to facilitate the holding of public meetings, events, and other activities as appropriate.
· Monitor and analyze policy developments, identifying opportunities for the commission to engage or provide input.
· Provide data and technical assistance to Commission members, as needed.
· Coordinate logistics for required public meetings, including securing physical space, setting up webcasting capabilities, coordinating public access to both in-person and virtual resources, and overseeing the conduct of meetings.
· Work with DOS Public Information Office staff on marketing and messaging of Commission meetings, activities, and work products.
· Understanding of how to use project management platforms, spreadsheets, and databases to organize information, track progress, and report on project metrics.
· Monitor public comments, questions and suggestions submitted to the Commission’s online feedback form; answer questions and/or present to Commission members, as needed; and formulate and present recommendations on Commission direction and activities based on stakeholder feedback.
• Oversee the completion and submission of the Commission’s required annual report,
including an accounting of received and expended funds, as well as findings and recommendations, to the Governor and the New York State Legislature by September 30 every year.
· Assist with other items as needed to support the New York State AAPI Commission.
· Incorporate, coordinate, align and assist with planned and hosted DOS DEIA public and internal events where appropriate
· Assist with special projects and assignments as may be assigned from time to time in relation to the Department’s and/or AAPIC’s scope of work

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and four years of relevant specialized experience. One year must have been at a supervisory level.

Specialized experience includes experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Knowledge of Asian American and Pacific Islander stakeholders, including cultural, advocacy, academic, and community-based entities.
• Stakeholder relationship management and communications, programmatic or scholarly research and report writing, cultural programming, event logistics, and meeting/workgroup facilitation.

Education/Experience Substitutions
• Education: Four years of specialized experience; Associate’s degree and two years of specialized experience
• Experience: J.D. or Master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience

*Substitutions: Four years of specialized experience or associate’s degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree; J.D. or master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with New York State government policies and programs and/or experience working within State government or the New York State Legislature.
• Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
• Exceptional writing skills with a demonstrated ability to transform complex information into concise and persuasive language.
• Familiarity with community outreach tools and in-person, virtual, and blended event coordination is a plus.

Additional Comments This position will be located in Albany or New York City. Travel is expected between the two locations and other areas of the state as needed. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000 to the salary range.
