Duties Description As a Chief of Forensic Unit 1, you would be responsible for planning, supervising, and evaluating the implementation and provision of mental health services to a diverse population in New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision facilities. You would have program and administrative responsibility for an interdisciplinary treatment team providing a comprehensive program tailored to meet the individual needs of patients. You would be responsible for negotiating and coordinating your unit’s activities with those of both Central New York Psychiatric Center and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Chief of Forensic Unit 1 if they have:

A bachelor's degree and five years of professional experience providing treatment in a mental health setting, alcohol or substance use treatment facility, or criminal justice setting where inmates/patients have mental health issues. Two years of this experience must have included clinical supervision of one or more credentialed disciplines.

OR

A master's degree and four years of professional experience providing treatment in a mental health setting, alcohol or substance use treatment facility, or criminal justice setting where inmates/patients have mental health issues. Two years of this experience must have included clinical supervision of one or more credentialed disciplines.
