Duties Description Under the close supervision of the Labor Foremen and Assistant Foreman, performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled duties in accordance with established practices and instructions. Work typically involves trade fields such as painting, paving, landscaping and grounds maintenance and structural/mechanical maintenance. A working knowledge of the tools and equipment required within these trades is essential, as it is the use of automotive equipment used in the maintenance trade.
Positions available at Kingston-Rhinecliff, Mid-Hudson, Rip Van Winkle and Newburgh-Beacon Bridges
Minimum Qualifications Skills/ Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience which would include:
Knowledge — Must have a thorough understanding of the operation and technology of tools, methods and materials used in the maintenance trades. Must understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability — Must have manual dexterity in the use of maintenance tools and equipment. Must also be able to climb bridge structures and components
Physical Effort — Is required to stand for long periods of time, to climb large structures and components and to do heavy lifting of materials, supplies, equipment and debris
Working Conditions — Works outdoors in various types of weather and may work from fixed scaffolds, roofs, ladders, towers, buckets and the like
Licenses/Special Training — Must possess a valid Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and tank endorsements to operate maintenance automotive equipment. (may be obtained after employment within prescribed time limits.)
