Job Specifics
Duties Description The Executive Assistant will report to the Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct’s (CPC) Administrator. Duties of the Executive Assistant will include, but will not be limited to:
• Providing administrative support to the executive team;
• Organizing agency meetings and distribute confidential meeting materials;
• Assisting with onboarding new hires;
• Office management of the NYC office location. Management includes maintaining appropriate level of office supplies, vendor point of contact, and other responsibilities as requested;
• Managing confidential documents and communications, including communicating with complainants;
• Summarizing various reports, articles, and other documents for the Administrator or other executive staff;
• Working with executive staff in preparing for commission meetings;
• Drafting correspondence, as needed for the Administrator and executive staff;
• Assisting the Administrator with preparing an annual report of the CPC’s activities, including any legislative and administrative recommendations from the Commission;
• Supervising administrative and support staff, as needed; and
• Other special projects as needed to enable the CPC to carry out its statutory mandate.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree plus three years of specialized experience. Substitutions for a Bachelor’s degree include four years of specialized experience or an Associate’s degree and two years of specialized experience, in addition to the three years of specialized experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; a Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience working with senior management and Commissioners/Boards, ability to manage complex and highly confidential information, advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe and PowerPoint, ability to multitask, and comfortable when working on tight deadlines. Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Additional Comments The Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct is an independent State agency dedicated to investigating prosecutorial conduct in New York State, serving to strengthen oversight of New York’s prosecutors and to hold them to the highest ethical standards in the exercise of their duties.
Pursuant to Judiciary Law §§ 499-a – 499-j, the Commission has the authority to review and investigate the conduct of prosecutors to determine whether any prosecutorial conduct violates state law or court rules. Under the statute, the Commission is authorized to conduct a full range of investigative functions, including holding hearings, subpoenaing witnesses, requiring production of documents, conferring immunity, and transmitting findings of fact and recommendations regarding sanctions to the relevant attorney grievance committee. The Commission is also authorized to make its findings and recommendations public.
