Job Specifics

Duties Description Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Training, the Training Specialist 2 (Mental Hygiene) will assist in overseeing and organizing comprehensive education and training programs for OPWDD FLDDSO employees. The Training Specialist 2 will oversee lower level professional and administrative staff and provide guidance and leadership with regard to fiscal operations. They will provide guidance with monitoring compliance with OPWDD, OER and other required training, and collaborate and guide career development actions. The candidate will communicate development and training needs to Associate Director, support the Associate Director with implementation of local and agency-wide initiatives, provide the Associate Director with reports and status updates, as requested, provide direct supervision of lower level Training and Clerical staff, serve as a Designee for the Associate Director at Development Council, STAC, and other meetings as requested. The candidate will provide certified instructor and/or instructor-trainer level support for new employees and seasoned staff, as needed, including the NEO, CPR and PROMOTE training programs. MS Office and TEAMS fluency is required. Candidate is expected to travel for meetings, trainings, and other events as required, including to other regions, as well as completing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be in title or on the Civil Service eligible list for this location or be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service.

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health or the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 3, Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 3 (Nursing), Training Specialist 1, Training Specialist Trainee 1, Training Specialist Trainee 2, Training Specialist 1 (Mental Hygiene), or Training Specialist 1 (Nursing).

Additional Comments • The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
