Job Specifics
Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:
• Supervise Outreach Veterans Benefits Advisor 1s across NYS.
• Advising Local Veterans Service Agencies and Veterans Service Organizations and community groups of the Department’s programs.
• Conduct training courses for VBA1s and local service personnel (VSO).
• Liaison between Agency and VA.
• Responsible for VA hearings as necessary.
• Develop and process veteran related claims
• Represent Department and Commissioner as requested.
• Provide oversight of the Mobile Vans to include staffing, maintenance and scheduling
• Attend outreach activities and conduct benefit presentations, including weekend and holidays as needed.
• Assign staff to attend and represent the Department for outreach events
• Ensure that After Action Reports are submitted in a timely and complete fashion.
• Accreditation by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, through the NYS Department of Veterans’ Services, as an “Agent” pursuant to Section 38 CFR 14.629 is necessary for continued employment.
• Other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications Current Veterans Benefits Advisor 2 interested in lateral transfer or relocation.
Additional Comments Operational Needs:
• Travel may be required (approximately 30%), including evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
